Hello Kitty is one of many fictional characters by Sanrio. Whether young or old Hello Kitty will make every heart beat faster. Many stars such as Paris Hilton, Christina Aguilera, and Madonna also love Hello Kitty.

The original target group of Hello Kitty products was young girls. But today there are Hello Kitty products for women of all ages. Many girls grew up with the character and still love it as adults. Hello Kitty has become a brand for so-called “Kidults”.

Hello Kitty was “born” in 1974 as a creation of the designer Ikuko Shimizuka and quickly reached cult status. Today Hello Kitty is in over 60 countries and is the most successful fictional character ever. There are already over 7000 Hello Kitty stores with over 24,000 different Hello Kitty products

In 2008 Sanrio made about 60 million Euros in Europe with the cute character. About 33 million was made through the sale of licenses. This explains the enormous variety of products and why Sanrio only produces a small part of the world’s existing 50,000 Hello Kitty products.
